Almost Anything Goes
Focus Group is a Berlin-based group organizing experimental happenings and inter-media art events. Through the lens of audio culture, we bring together diverse artistic practices β from performance and sound to visual arts and beyond. Our name reflects our approach: like a focus group that explores and refines ideas together, we create intimate environments where artists can present their work, engage with audiences, and enter into dialogue with each other.
We're all about crafting experiences that feel alive and unexpected. Our events emphasize dynamic, multidisciplinary connections that blur traditional boundaries between art forms. We particularly enjoy creating contexts where works from different disciplines can resonate with each other in surprising ways.
While primarily based in Berlin, we sometimes extend our reach to other cities, with a special connection to Helsinki, weaving connections between different creative communities. We're passionate about featuring both fresh voices and experienced artists, creating a mix that keeps conversations flowing and ideas evolving. At our core, we believe in art's ability to shake things up and bring people together in meaningful ways. Our gatherings are places where different perspectives, backgrounds, and artistic approaches can blend and spark new possibilities.

Who Does the Things??
Focus Group brings together four core members whose diverse expertise spans visual art, music, video, design, and programming. Rather than adhering to fixed roles, our dynamic structure allows leadership to shift organically based on each project's unique demands. While members take turns leading different events based on their vision and interests, we typically work in a co-curatorial model where collaborative decision-making shapes each production.
Each production draws differently on our members' varied backgrounds, allowing us to maintain the fluid, experimental approach that characterizes our events. This flexibility reflects our belief in the power of shifting perspectives and cross-disciplinary dialogue.
